The full reference for the six plans: every price, every limit, and what happens at each limit. For the short version, see Choose a plan.
Every plan has a flat monthly price. There are no usage charges and no revenue share. Shopify handles the billing for the five public plans, so the charge appears on your normal Shopify invoice. The Custom plan is a private plan that we set up for your store on Shopify, so it is on your Shopify invoice too.

What each plan unlocks
The features below are everything each plan unlocks. The Billing screen's plan comparison grid shows all of them side by side, one column per plan:
Feature | Available from | What it is |
|---|---|---|
Semantic search | Starter | Search that matches meaning, not only words. See How search works. |
AI query understanding | Starter | The AI reads the intent behind a search query. |
Integrations | Starter | The email product feed and connected services. See Integrations. |
Cart goal bar in the cart drawer | Starter | A tiered “spend $X more” progress bar in the slide-out cart. The checkout version of the same bar is available on every plan. See Cart goal bar. |
A/B testing | Growth | Test two setups against each other. See A/B testing. |
Advanced analytics | Growth | The Visitor Traits and Session Replay tabs. See Analytics tabs. |
Auto-pick | Growth | Per placement, the app tries the recommendation types that fit it and sends more traffic to the one shoppers click most. See Auto-pick. |
Merchandising rules | Growth | Pin, boost, bury, and hide products. See Merchandising rules. |
Personalized search ranking | Growth | Search results re-rank for each shopper's session. See Ranking, curations & facets. |
Fallback chain editing | Growth | Choose the backup models a widget shows when its first model has no results. See Model settings. |
Per-language synonyms & stopwords | Growth | Separate synonym and stopword lists for each storefront language. See Synonyms & redirects. |
Widget code mode | Growth | Edit widget HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in Design. See Style your widgets. |
Personalized Klaviyo emails | Growth | Recommendations picked for each Klaviyo email recipient. See Integrations. |
Engagement reranking | Pro | Recommendations re-rank by what shoppers click and buy. Turn it on from the Models tab of the Recommendations screen. See Model settings. |
Custom blends | Pro | Your own blended models: 5 on Pro, 10 on Scale, unlimited on Custom. You build them on the Custom Blends tab of the Recommendations screen. See Hand-picked & custom models. |
AI custom-model methods | Custom | The embedding and AI similarity methods on custom blends. |
Headless API access | Custom | Secret keys for storefronts outside Shopify themes. See API keys & headless. |
How billing works
Billing runs through Shopify's own subscription page. You pick and change your plan there, and the charge lands on your Shopify invoice. The app never takes a payment directly.
- Open the app in your Shopify admin.
- Click Billing in the app menu.
- Click Manage plan.
- Select a plan on Shopify's subscription page.
- Approve the charge.
The Billing screen shows your current plan, a This month section with your usage against each monthly limit, and the Plans comparison grid. Each plan in the grid has its own Choose button, for example Choose Growth. The PersonalizerAI dashboard shows the same plan status under Settings → Billing.

The Billing screen: your current plan, and the grid to compare before you change.
What happens when you pass a limit
The app never stops and never charges an overage. The two monthly limits — recommendations and AI searches — degrade gracefully instead. Searches themselves are unlimited on every plan; the limit counts the searches that get AI search.
- At 80% of a monthly limit, a banner appears on the Home and Billing screens. Nothing degrades yet. The app also emails you, unless you turned off Billing alerts. See Emails & notifications.
- Over the recommendations limit, personalization pauses: widgets based on a shopper's own browsing or orders (Recently viewed, Up next, Replenishment) show trending products and best sellers instead, and engagement re-ranking, Auto-pick and experiments stop until next month. The banner states it plainly: "Personalization is paused until next month: widgets based on a shopper's own browsing or orders show trending products and best sellers instead". Everything else keeps serving as normal: Similar products, Complete the look, Complete your cart, your own picks (see Hand-picked & custom models), and bundles. Trending products and best sellers fill in even if you switched them off, so a widget is never blank. Your pins and exclusions still apply.
- Over the AI searches limit, search keeps working in keyword mode. The banner states: "Search is running in keyword-only mode (AI search paused)". On Free, search is keyword mode all month, so nothing changes at the limit; the banner says AI search starts on Starter.
- On the first day of the next month, the counters reset and full service returns on its own.
The product limit works differently. Products over your plan's limit wait as "queued" — they stay out of search and recommendations until you upgrade or reduce the catalog. See Data sync settings for the queued list.

The usage banner names the limit and states exactly what changed.
Settings your plan does not run
Some settings only take effect on certain plans. You can still switch them on — nothing blocks you — but your storefront does not use them until your plan includes them. This matters most during setup, which asks you to configure search before it asks you to pick a plan.
The Billing screen shows a short list, "What the {your plan} plan doesn't run". It names each setting you have switched on that your plan does not include, where to change it, and the plan it starts on. If your plan runs everything you have set up, the list does not appear. The plan comparison grid below it marks the same settings in each plan's column, so you can see at a glance which plans would run them.
Nothing is deleted and nothing is switched off in your settings. These features stop and start with your plan: move up and they begin running with the settings you already saved; move down and they stop, with your settings untouched.
Step 3 (Search) of the setup guide marks the same thing with a badge, for example Starter and up, next to each search switch, so you know before you save.
Move to a lower plan
Two things pause on their own when the lower plan does not include them:
- Running A/B tests — A/B testing needs the Growth plan or higher.
- Custom blends above the new plan's count — for example, moving from Scale to Pro pauses the blends past 5. Moving from Custom to Pro or Scale also pauses custom blends that use the embedding or AI methods.
Paused tests and models keep their setup, and upgrading again resumes them for you — you do not have to go and switch each one back on. The app only resumes what it paused: anything you paused yourself stays paused, and a test stopped by one of its own guardrails stays stopped. If the higher plan still does not have room for everything (say you had ten custom blends and upgrade to a plan allowing five), it restores what fits and leaves the rest paused.
Cancelling the subscription in Shopify moves you to Free straight away. The app is told the moment you cancel, pauses whatever Free does not include, and emails you to say which tests and blends were paused and how to get them back. You do not wait a day or two for it to catch up, and nothing is deleted.
A subscription that Shopify puts on hold for a failed payment is different, and does not trigger any of this. That state clears by itself once payment goes through, so the app waits it out rather than pausing your features.
Three things the app can only flag, because it does not pause them for you:
- Merchandising rules — on a plan below Growth, your rules stop applying. They stay saved and apply again when you move back up.
- Catalog size — products over the new limit become "queued" and leave search and recommendations.
- Order volume — a note that your store's volume sits above the plan's sizing band. Nothing changes; it is guidance only.
