Every sync control in the PersonalizerAI dashboard: the Data sync tab and the Metafields tab. For the getting-started view, see Your first data sync.
All controls on this page live in the PersonalizerAI dashboard under Settings. The tabs are Data sync and Metafields.
The Data sync tab
Sync status
The Data sync status card is a table with four columns: Data type, Records, Last synced, and Status. The status is one of three words, with the reason under it:
Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Healthy | The catalog synced within the last 24 hours. | Nothing. |
Delayed | The catalog last synced more than 24 hours ago. | Click Force full sync below. |
Failing | The catalog has never synced, or the last sync is more than 7 days old. | Start the sync in the setup guide, or click Force full sync below. If it stays Failing, see Troubleshooting. |

The Data sync tab: status, manual sync controls, and the webhook log.
Force full sync
A full sync re-syncs all products, variants, and collections from Shopify. It takes 5 to 15 minutes for most stores. The operation is additive — existing data stays in place, and current recommendations continue to serve. Use it when your storefront shows old product data.
- Open the PersonalizerAI dashboard.
- Go to Settings → Data sync.
- Click Force full sync.
- Click Start full sync in the confirmation dialog.
The card then says the sync started, and when you asked for it. Last synced updates when the sync finishes. If a sync is already running, the card says so. If the sync cannot start, the card shows the error; try again in a few minutes.
Historical order sync
Order history teaches the "bought together" models and captures seasonal patterns. The Historical order sync card has two separate controls:
- Backfill window — how far back the app syncs orders. The presets are 90 days, 180 days, 365 days, and 730 days.
- Resync orders — re-syncs the orders created inside the saved window and refreshes their current state.
- Select a Backfill window.
- Click Save window.
- Click Resync orders.
- Click Resync orders again in the confirmation dialog.
New orders do not need this card. They arrive as they happen, and a background check every 6 hours catches the ones that webhooks missed.
The webhook delivery log
Shopify sends the app a webhook — a small update message — when a product, order, or customer changes. The Recent webhook activity card lists the last 25 deliveries with four columns: Topic, Received, Duration, and Status.
Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
OK | The app applied the update. |
Ignored | The app received the update and did not apply it. A rare, single entry is safe. |
Error | The update failed. The app retries it on its own. The reason is shown under the topic. |
When to worry: many Error rows in a short time, on product or order topics. Your data can go stale. Run Force full sync, then check the log again. If the errors continue, contact support.
Products over your plan limit
Each plan has a product limit. When your catalog is larger, the extra products wait as "queued" — they are not in the search index and do not appear in recommendations. The card Products over your plan limit appears only when this happens. It lists the queued products, each linked to its Shopify admin page, with an Upgrade in Shopify button. The Billing screen in your Shopify admin links to this list too: click View products in the PersonalizerAI dashboard.
To clear the queue, upgrade to a plan with a higher limit, or reduce the catalog below the limit. See Plans, billing & limits.
Data retention
The Data retention card at the bottom of the tab states how long the app keeps each kind of data. It is informational — there is nothing to configure. For deletion on uninstall, see Privacy & shopper consent.
The Metafields tab
Metafields are extra product fields in Shopify — material, fit, care instructions, and similar. The Metafield configuration card lists every metafield the app found in your catalog, with a per-field toggle for each use:
Toggle | What it does when on |
|---|---|
Sync | The app reads this metafield from Shopify. The other toggles need this one on. |
Search index | Shoppers can find products by this field in search. Needs Sync on. |
Facet | The field becomes a filter on search and collection pages. Needs Search index on. |
Embedding | The field feeds semantic search and similarity. Needs Sync on. |
If a metafield is missing from the list, click Re-discover metafields from Shopify. The app scans your store again.

The Metafields tab: one row per discovered metafield, four toggles per row.
