PersonalizerAI keeps selling after the cart: on the checkout page, between checkout and the thank-you page, and on the pages a customer visits later. Shopify renders these widgets inside its own secure surfaces.
Where each widget appears
Widget | Where the shopper sees it | Where you set it up |
|---|---|---|
Checkout Block | The checkout page: upsells, a progress bar, and an auto-applied promo code. | Checkout in the PersonalizerAI dashboard, plus the Shopify checkout editor. |
Post-Purchase Offer | A one-click offer between payment and the thank-you page. | Checkout in the PersonalizerAI dashboard (Post-purchase offer tab), plus Shopify's checkout settings. |
Thank You Page | A row of recommendations on the order confirmation page. | The Shopify checkout editor. |
Order Status Page | Recommendations on the order status page. Works for guests too. | The Shopify checkout and accounts editor, on the customer account pages. |
Customer account widgets | Two grids inside the customer account pages. | The Shopify checkout and accounts editor, on the customer account pages. |
Where the app sends you
Open Widgets in the app, then the Checkout tab. This tab tells you where each surface is configured. It has no on/off switches and no settings forms. It shows three cards, in the order the buyer sees them: Checkout, Post-purchase offer, and Thank-you and order status. Only the Checkout card carries a Shopify Plus badge.
Each card carries one button:
- Set up checkout on the Checkout card. It opens the Checkout page in the PersonalizerAI dashboard in a new window.
- Set up offer on the Post-purchase offer card. It opens the same page on its Post-purchase offer tab.
- Open checkout editor on the Thank-you and order status card. It opens your Shopify checkout settings in a new window.
To add a widget to checkout or to the pages after purchase:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout.
- Click Customize.
- Select the page you want, for example the thank-you page.
- Add the PersonalizerAI block for that page, for example PersonalizerAI Thank-You Recommendations.
- Set the block's own settings, if it has any.
- Click Save.
To remove a widget, delete its block in the same editor. That is the only way to turn one off.

The Checkout tab names where each surface is configured, and links there.
The Checkout Block
The Checkout Block is the richest surface. On the checkout page, the shopper can see:
- Recommended products, each with an add button.
- A Save with bundle note on a product that pairs with a cart item. See Bundles & bundle discounts.
- A progress bar toward free shipping or another cart goal.
- An automatically applied promo code. Shopify's order summary shows the code and the saving.
Configure it on the Checkout page
PersonalizerAI configures the Checkout Block on the Checkout tab of the Checkout page (the post-purchase offer has its own tab, below). Open Checkout in the PersonalizerAI dashboard's sidebar (under Configure), or use Set up checkout on the Checkout card of the Widgets → Checkout tab. You edit with a live checkout preview, then click Save. Discard puts back what you last saved. The banner at the top is a reminder: nothing shows on your checkout until the apps are placed in Shopify's checkout editor, and some checkout surfaces need Shopify Plus.
At the top of the form, Show PersonalizerAI on your checkout turns everything below off or on, even where the apps are placed.

The Post-Purchase Offer
This offer appears after payment and before the thank-you page. It shows up to three offers, one after another: recommended products, or one you choose with a rule. The buyer can accept an offer with one click. No new checkout is needed. A buyer who accepts is charged immediately, to the card they used for the order, and the product is added to that order. After the buyer accepts or declines an offer, the next offer appears, until there are no more.
Each offer shows a Quantity picker that starts at 1. When the product has options, such as size or color, the buyer can usually choose the option they want. If we can't read the product's options at that moment, the offer shows the recommended variant only.
Turn it on in Shopify
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout.
- Find the Post-purchase page section. It appears only after a post-purchase app, such as PersonalizerAI, is installed.
- Select PersonalizerAI.
- Save your changes.
Shopify lets one app add a post-purchase page at a time. Selecting PersonalizerAI replaces any app selected before.
Configure it on the Checkout page
Open Checkout in the PersonalizerAI dashboard's sidebar and choose the Post-purchase offer tab, or use Set up offer on the Post-purchase offer card of the Widgets → Checkout tab. Change the settings, then click Save. This tab saves on its own, separately from the Checkout tab.
Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
Show the offer after payment | Off skips the offer for every order, without changing Shopify's settings. | On |
Offers in a row | How many offers the buyer can see, from 1 to 3. After the buyer accepts or declines an offer, the next offer appears. Shopify allows at most 3. The next offer is the next-best recommendation, so it also works as a second chance after a decline. | 1 |
Most a buyer can add of one offer | The highest number the Quantity picker goes up to, from 1 to 5. The picker always shows and starts at 1. | 5 |
Discount on the offered product | A percentage off the offered product, from 0 to 90. 10–15% is typical. At 0 the buyer pays your normal price. | 0% |
Only offer products costing up to this % of the order | Limits the offer's price compared with the order total. At 50, an order of 80 can only be offered products priced 40 or less. The product's normal price is compared, before the offer discount. Leave it empty for no limit. The limit is checked against the price of one unit, not the price times the quantity. | No limit |
Never offer these products | Up to 50 products that are never offered, whether a rule or the recommendation picked them. | None |
Rules | "When the order contains any of these products, offer this product." Up to 25 rules. They are checked in order and the first match wins. An order that matches no rule gets the recommended product. | None |
Hold out this % of orders | From 0 to 50. Held-out orders see no offer, so you can compare revenue per order with and without it. The same order is always held out or always shown. See the note below. | 0% |
Which product is recommended
When no rule matches, the first offer asks for Frequently Bought Together against the product the shopper just bought. When that model has no pairing for the order, the placement's fallback chain fills the offer instead — Smart Mix first, then Complete the Look, Trending Now, and New Arrivals. Replenishment is not in this chain: the offer page does not know who the customer is, and Replenishment needs that. With more than one offer in a row, the next offers are the next-ranked products from the same request. Your exclusions and price limit apply to every recommended product too. See How recommendations work.
The Thank You Page widget
A row of recommendations on the order confirmation page. The customer has already paid, so this widget invites the next visit.
You set this widget in the Shopify checkout editor, on the placed block itself. It has two settings:
Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
Headline | The heading above the products. | You may also like |
Number of products | How many products to show (1 to 8). | 4 |
The model is not a setting. The block always asks for Frequently Bought Together against the purchased product. Its fallback chain runs Frequently Bought Together, Complete the Look, Replenishment, then Best Sellers. The chain leads with cross-sell models. The customer is one screen away from paying, so a related product suits this moment.
The Order Status Page widget
Recommendations on the order status page — the page customers revisit to track a delivery. It works for guest orders and signed-in customers.
You set this widget in the Shopify checkout and accounts editor, on the customer account pages, on the placed block itself. It has the same two settings:
Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
Headline | The heading above the widget. | Recommended for you |
Number of products | How many products to show (1 to 8). | 4 |
This block also asks for Frequently Bought Together, but its fallback chain leads with Replenishment, then Frequently Bought Together, Complete the Look, and Best Sellers. Customers open this page days after the order. A reorder suits that moment better than a cross-sell.
Customer account widgets
Signed-in customers get one personal widget inside their account pages: a Things you've bought before grid on the order list page.
The grid is picked from this customer's own order history. It shows products the customer buys again and is due to reorder, from the Replenishment model. It never shows your best sellers or trending products in their place. A customer without enough order history sees no grid, and neither does a customer who has not allowed analytics in your cookie banner. Expect the grid to stay hidden for most customers until your store has steady repeat orders.
You place these blocks with Shopify's editor for checkout and customer accounts:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout.
- In Configurations, click Edit on your active configuration. (Settings → Customer accounts → Customize opens the same place.)
- At the top of the editor, open the page menu. Under Customer accounts, select Orders.
- In the Main section, click Add block and select PersonalizerAI Customer Account Recommendations.
- Click Save.
The block has three settings. Order list headline and Number of products (1 to 8) apply to the order list page. Profile page headline is not used yet.
