Recently Viewed is a personalized model that tracks and displays products a customer has recently viewed. This model leverages browsing behavior to enhance the shopping experience by suggesting items that are likely to be of interest based on a shopper's immediate actions. It can track logged-in customers across devices, ensuring a seamless and consistent experience no matter where they browse. Additionally, the model keeps track of the user session for 30 days since their last visit, allowing returning customers to easily revisit items they previously explored. By combining real-time insights with cross-device tracking and session retention, the Recently Viewed model provides a highly personalized and engaging shopping experience.
Benefits
Improved User Experience: Shoppers can quickly navigate back to items they were previously considering without needing to search again.
Increased Conversion Rates: By reminding customers of items they have already shown interest in, the model encourages return visits and potentially increases the chances of a purchase.
Data-Driven Personalization: The recently viewed products reflect the customer's own interests, creating a tailored experience that is more likely to engage them.
How it works
The model records which products a customer views during their session in the store. It creates a history of these products in real-time.
Based on the customer's view history, the model displays a set of products that they have recently interacted with. This list can be dynamically updated as the customer continues to shop, ensuring that it always reflects their most recent interests.
Recommended Placements
We recommend placing the Recently Viewed widget at the bottom of all pages of your store. This placement encourage shoppers to return to items they liked without interrupting their current flow. By letting them first engage with the primary content of the page, we can gently nudge them to revisit products and potentially complete a purchase as they're naturally reaching the end of the page.
Limitations
The Recently Viewed Model relies entirely on a customer’s browsing activity to generate recommendations. For users who haven’t viewed any products such as first-time visitors or those who haven’t interacted with the store during their session, the model has no data to display. As a result, the "Recently Viewed" widget remains hidden.
